In order to continue to serve, the TMH Farm must move to a larger location better suited to house and train therapy chickens as well as expand the program to serve more people and to provide a greater variety of opportunities.
Our New Location:
- Will be the home of the TMH therapy and support chickens.
- Will be the destination for those with special needs to visit & learn.
- Will be the home of our organic garden planted and harvested by adults with special needs.
- Will include a kitchen for education on healthy foods and preparation.
- Will contain a food pantry allowing us to store and supply foods to the families and group homes where an adult with special needs lives.
- Will be the model to educate others on how to raise both backyard and therapy chickens.
- Will remain in the Chicagoland area to service more people in need.
FUTURE FARM CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
The Future Farm Capital Campaign has begun to raise the funds necessary to buy land and build the infrastructure required to meet the long and short-term objectives.
The campaign must raise $1 million to achieve the short-term goals.
In order to meet statutory requirements, we need to acquire five acres of land zoned for agricultural use. To remain in the Chicagoland area, land will be expensive. It can be located outside the traditional suburban radius but must be easily accessible.
Infrastructure will include:
- chicken coops & runs,
- chicken brooders and training equipment,
- large indoor facility to offer programs during inclement weather,
- gardening plots with raised beds for easier access to those with special needs,
- ADA accessible bathrooms and changing area,
- food storage room with large scale refrigeration,
- equipped kitchen with room for guest observation & participation,
- walking paths that are smooth and easily traversed by everyone.
All infrastructure will be ADA compliant; where no guideline exists, infrastructure will be wheelchair accessible.
Thank you for your support!
