New Methods, Same Mission
· The Fresh Market still delivers four days each week.
· Our delivery personnel use masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and contactless delivery to keep our neighbors and our volunteers safe.
· We include masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies in our deliveries to help our neighbors with disabilities protect themselves and stay healthy.
PPE Needed
When COVID-19 arrived, it changed all our lives. Here in Illinois, everything shut down very suddenly. Many of our local partner companies were closed. The ones who remained open stopped all donations for a time. Group Homes went into lockdown and suddenly needed something they had never needed before: Personal Protective Equipment. To keep the residents safe, everyone needed masks, gloves, etc., and it was almost impossible to find!
Reaching out to Touch My Heart supporters, they generously gave so we could provide PPE and groceries, even during the pandemic! Aspire runs many Group Homes in the area. Aspire gave the Community Hero Award to one of our founders, Rick Montalbano, for providing PPE that was “literally saving lives.”
Cabin Fever
COVID-19 has caused many Group Homes to quarantine much longer than the general public. The large events that we used to offer are no longer an option for our neighbors with disabilities. We are serving their needs for outings and social interaction in a new way! See The Farm page for more details!
